With almost perfect timing this news story came in today: Not only because I was playing with WI-FI but because SEC were changing the bulb in the streetlight outside my house yesterday. 'Last Mile' seem to like the idea of jamming lots of electronics into any piece of street furniture that resembles the steel tube form factor.. but to turn the idea on its head... if you could reduce their access point to be incorporated into the sodium street light bulb it would suddenly become very easy to install this stuff as part of normal maintenance. I just hope they have fun making the network signal work down electricity cables... I should think the wiring infrastructure behind streetlights (some of which can be very old) will be full of quirks. |
